2022 Mazda CX-9

For 2022, the Mazda CX-9 is offered in Sport, Touring, Touring Plus, Carbon Edition, Grand Touring, and Signature trim levels, each with unique styling cues. With its long, sculpted hood, flowing profile, and stylish rear end, the CX-9 creates a sophisticated road presence. Standard exterior features include remote keyless entry, LED headlights and daytime running lights, rain-sensing wipers, 18-inch alloy wheels, heated power mirrors with turn signals, a body-colored roofline spoiler, dual bright exhaust outlets, and LED taillights. Touring models add an advanced keyless entry system, while the Touring Plus offers LED fog lights, 20-inch wheels, and a power moonroof. The Carbon Edition features unique Polymetal Gray paint, adaptive front lighting, a windshield wiper de-icer, and a hands-free power liftgate. Stepping up to the Grand Touring trim gets you auto-folding mirrors, while the range-topping Signature trim offers a unique grille with LED accent lighting.

Powering the CX-9 is a turbocharged 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine that generates 227 horsepower and 310 pound-feet of torque with regular fuel. Filling up with 93 octane gas increases the output to 250 horsepower and 320 pound-feet. The engine is mated with a six-speed automatic transmission featuring manual shift and Sport Mode, and the i-Activ AWD system is standard.

With Mazda's legendary handling and turbocharged performance, the CX-9 drives more like a sports sedan than an SUV. It's agile around town, while tackling the winding back roads makes for a thoroughly enjoyable driving experience. You'll get up to 20 mpg in the city and 26 mpg for highway driving. When properly equipped, the CX-9 has a maximum towing capacity of 3,500 pounds.

The CX-9's elegant cabin has an upscale feel to rival some luxury brands. It seats seven people, or six with the available second-row captain's chairs. Behind the third row, you have 14.4 cubic feet of storage, while folding down the second and third rows gives you a 71.2-cubic-foot cargo area. Sport models feature push-button start, cloth upholstery, heated front seats, a power-adjustable driver's seat, tri-zone automatic climate control, and a leather-wrapped steering wheel and shift knob. With the Mazda Connect infotainment system, you get a 10.25 central display, Bluetooth, smartphone integration, voice recognition, and six-speaker audio with HD radio. Features offered in higher spec models include leather upholstery, an auto-dimming rearview mirror, paddle shifters, retractable second-row window shades, ventilated fronts seats, heated second-row seats, a heated steering wheel, a wireless phone charger, navigation, and a 12-speaker Bose surround sound system.
