Is Your Car Overheating? 3 Possible Reasons
Overheating is one of the most serious problems an engine can face. Your engine is hot, but the cooling system in your Mazda is designed to keep its temperature under control. If your engine temperature rises and continues to rise, you’re in danger of a car overheating. As your Mazda dealer, we’d like to give you advice on some of the reasons your engine is too hot.
Advice From Your Mazda Dealer: 3 Possible Reasons for a Car Overheating
Coolant Level Is Low
Coolant is a mixture of antifreeze and water and can absorb heat. Your engine generates large volumes of heat due to combustion, and this heat must be removed to prevent damage to your engine. Coolant circulates through your engine and absorbs heat radiating from the various components it passes. This heat is conveyed to the radiator where its exchanged for cool outside air.
Unlike engine oil, coolant isn’t consumed by your engine. A low level of coolant is a sign that there’s a leak somewhere in the closed cooling system. As your engine loses coolant, the temperature will steadily rise. If you see your engine temperature going up, call our service department right away. Our technicians will trace the leak and repair it.

It’s not always noticeable when your transmission isn’t working correctly. Unfortunately, by the time you notice, it is too late, and your car needs costly repairs. Getting a regular transmission service at your Mazda dealer has many benefits and helps prevent problems before they can occur.
5 Benefits of Getting Routine Transmission Service at Your Mazda Dealer
1. Proper Lubrication
Servicing your transmission regularly ensures that your transmission fluids are free of debris and gunk. This allows the fluid to distribute itself throughout your transmission system efficiently and with less friction than when the fluid contains contaminants. In addition, your transmission depends on lubrication to shift gears and work properly. When the transmission doesn’t have the lubrication it needs, it will not continue to function correctly.
2. Clean
Transmission fluid not only lubricates your transmission system but also keeps your transmission clean. The fluid prevents the build of dirt and other debris from infiltrating your transmission and damaging it. When you do not regularly service the transmission in your vehicle, harmful debris can accumulate and damage the system leading to severe problems and costly repairs.

The catalytic converter on your vehicle is in place to control the emissions that come out of your engine. If this component is broken or damaged, that can have detrimental impacts on how your car operates. Thankfully, there are some signs you can look for to determine if you need to take your car to a Mazda dealer for service.
5 Signs Your Car Needs a New Catalytic Converter From a Mazda Dealer
1. Decreased Engine Capabilities
One of the first signs you might notice that indicates you need to take your vehicle in for service is decreased engine capabilities. You’ll realize that you have a lower rate of acceleration and that your car doesn’t hit the top speeds like it used to in the past. This is often due to slower emission flows, which reduces the efficiency of your engine.
2. Lower Fuel Efficiency
Another sign that something is wrong with your vehicle’s exhaust system is you’ll have lower fuel efficiency. If you find that you have to go to the gas station more frequently—and you haven’t changed any of your driving habits—it’s time to take your car to a professional to have it looked at.

Your Mazda vehicle is a piece of precision machinery that needs regular care. Unfortunately, the vehicle may not show signs of trouble until it’s too late. If you’re having engine problems, the best thing to do is to have a professional diagnose the issue as soon as possible. At Mazda City of Orange Park, we enjoy helping local drivers take care of their engine troubles. Here are five common issues that require help from your Mazda dealer.
5 Engine Problems You Should Always Get Fixed at Your Mazda Dealer
1. Sluggish Acceleration
Sluggish acceleration could be a sign of a clogged fuel filter. If the fuel filter is clogged, your engine will have to work harder to get up to speed. This can happen when the gasoline cannot flow freely through the fuel lines, which means it has to make more turns than usual in order for your car’s engine to start working properly again.
2. Choking and Sputtering
If your car is chugging along but not delivering the performance you’d expect, it may indicate a problem with the fuel-injection system. If the ECM is showing multiple misfires across all cylinders with no other faults, then it may be time for new spark plug wires and coils.

Here at Mazda City of Orange Park, we know that warm weather means camping, road trips, and other fun outdoor activities. However, a faulty air conditioner can ruin all of the fun. Is your car AC not working? Check out our guide to several common car AC problems and how your local Mazda dealer can help.
Refrigerant Leaks
Refrigerant leaks are a common cause of a failing car AC system. Your Mazda’s AC system relies on refrigerant, a fluid designed to evaporate at a low temperature, to cool the air before it blows through the system’s vents and into the cabin. If your car’s refrigerant is leaking from somewhere in the AC system, there will be less refrigerant in the AC system, causing the system to become less effective at cooling the air before it leaves the vents.
Diagnosing a refrigerant leak can be challenging because leaks can occur throughout the AC system in areas such as hoses, pipe fittings, or your car’s condenser. You’ll need to visually inspect each of these areas for oil residue or use a special tool that can detect AC refrigerant gas. If you notice these signs during your inspection, then chances are your car’s AC system is suffering from a refrigerant leak, and you’ll need to repair or replace the offending part.
