1. Chamblin Bookmine 

This is one of the larger shops in Jacksonville to look for used, new, collectible, and out-of-print books. They also sell other types of media like DVDs, CDs, vinyl records, and more. This shop has been part of the community since 1976 and has a warehouse full of stock with two retail locations. Altogether, they estimate they have a few million books, so they’re the go-to place if you want to find a specific title.

You’ll want to come to this shop when you really have a substantial amount of time to browse their large selection. Their main retail location is located at 4551 Roosevelt Boulevard here in Jacksonville. They are open from 10:00 am to 6:00 pm on Monday through Thursday. On the weekends, they are open from 10:00 am to 9:00 pm on Friday and Saturday but closed Sundays.

2. San Marco Bookstore

This smaller shop is also an established Jacksonville store. They sell both used and new books alongside gift items like t-shirts, candles, and greeting cards. They are well known for their large selection of books about Florida and the Jacksonville area. You’ll also find a large selection of children’s books and cookbooks here.

This delightful, cozy shop has been in town since 1972. They are open Monday through Saturday from 10:00 am to 6:00 pm and closed on Sundays. You’ll find their store located at 1971 San Marco Boulevard.

3. Femme Fire Books

This small shop opened in July 2022, so it’s a newer place for Jacksonville residents to browse. This independent shop sells new books, both fiction and nonfiction. They curate titles that celebrate diversity. They sell everything from romances and thrillers to children’s books to historical non-fiction.

This shop has a fun feature called blind date with a book where shoppers can choose a book without seeing the cover. Instead, they get a wrapped book with a few clues written on wrapping paper to say what it’s about. You can explore this feature and the store itself at their store located at 2766 Park Street #1.
