Do you know how to tell when you need a brake repair? Unfortunately, not all drivers can recognize the signs early enough for it to be an easy fix. Thankfully, we’re here to help you out! We’ll tell you some of the common signs that your brakes are faulty so you can visit your Mazda dealer as soon as you notice something’s not right.Tire

5 Common Signs You Need a Brake Repair

1. Your Brakes Are Less Responsive Than Usual

If it’s taking more effort than usual to bring your vehicle to a stop, then stop driving immediately. You don’t know how fast this problem is going to worsen, so get to the dealer ASAP.

2. Your Brakes Are Overly Responsive

You might be having the opposite problem of the one above. If your brakes are responding too strongly to the lightest touch, then it’s also an issue that you need to get fixed. Your vehicle jerking to a stop can put a strain on its components, and it can also jerk you hard enough to cause an injury. We don’t want you to get hurt.

3. Your Brake Pedal Feels Like a Sponge

If it feels like you’re stepping on a sponge when you hit the brakes, then your vehicle could be having a variety of issues. Get to a dealer straight away, and we’ll find out what’s wrong. Don’t delay, as this problem often occurs alongside your brakes becoming less responsive.

4. You Smell Something Burning

Your brake system can overheat if you use your brake pedal too frequently in a short space of time. This often occurs in sticky traffic jams where you’re only driving forward a couple of inches at a time. Pull over to let your vehicle cool down for 30 minutes, and then make your way to the dealership as carefully as you can. We’ll check your vehicle to ensure that the overheating caused no lasting damage.

5. You Hear a New Noise

New noises in your vehicle are always a reason to visit the dealer as soon as you can. The noises that indicate brake faults are a ticking sound when you brake, or a high-pitched metallic shrieking when you’re driving. The ticking sound means your brake pads have come loose, and the metallic screeching can indicate one of two things: you might need your brake pads replaced, or your rotor may be damaged.
