The Mazda CX-5 is a subcompact crossover, but it incorporates a power plant that gives it plenty of pep and quickness. The standard engine in the CX-5 is the SKYACTIV-G 2.5-liter DOHC 16-valve 4-cylinder with Advanced Direct Injection that generates 187 horsepower and 186 foot-pounds of torque. In higher trims, there’s an available SKYACTIV-G 2.5-liter Dynamic Pressure Turbo that generates 227 horsepower and 310 foot-pounds of torque.

Balanced Performance and Fuel Efficiency

Though the CX-5 is built for performance, it balances that trait with excellent fuel efficiency. The standard 2.5-liter SKYACTIV-G engine has an EPA fuel efficiency rating of 23 MPG in the city and 29 MPG on the highway. With the more powerful Turbo edition engine available in higher trim levels, the city gas mileage rating is 22 MPG, while the highway fuel efficiency is rated at 27 MPG.

All-Purpose AWD Drivetrain
